I typically use 115-grain FMJ rounds for target practice. They seem to work well with the 459 and keep my groups tight.

I agree with what stevenanderson said about reliability. I’ve had mine in the rain and mud during training, and it still performed without any issues.

I wonder how often the 459 requires maintenance. Does it need a lot of cleaning to keep it reliable?

I’ve found it pretty low maintenance. A good cleaning every few hundred rounds seems to do the trick. No complaints here!

It’s like my gym membership—hard to keep up with! Just kidding, the S&W 459 is definitely more reliable than my visit frequency! :joy:

I’ve owned a Smith & Wesson 459 for a few years now, and the grip has a really nice texture that helps with control, even when sweating. It feels great in hand!

Absolutely! The controls are user-friendly too. You can easily operate the slide release and magazine release without adjusting your grip.

I’ve noticed that too! If you’re a beginner, this firearm feels forgiving. Very few instances of fatigue when shooting for a longer time.

I find the 459’s ergonomics quite impressive. The design really caters to those who may find other models cumbersome. It’s pleasant to shoot!

Exactly! Though, on the flip side, I’ve met folks who think it feels a bit bulky. Could be subjective, I guess.

For sure, some people love that heft while others prefer something lighter. But I think the comfort during shooting totally makes up for it.

I’ve shot with lighter guns, and honestly, I’m surprised at how comfortable the 459 is despite its weight. It really does help with recoil management!

Such a good point! Sometimes I crack jokes that the weight is like a ‘comfort blanket’ for handling recoil!
