Looking for Insights on H&R 9 Shot .22 Revolver!

I’ve used Remington Thunderbolt for both target shooting and casual fun, but I’ve heard mixed reviews on reliability.

I’ve had my share of duds with Thunderbolt. Stick to something you trust like CCI!

Has anyone tried high-velocity .22 ammo with the H&R? I wonder how it performs compared to standard velocity.

The high-velocity stuff can be fun! Just be cautious about leading with it. Some firearms don’t like it as much.

Good point! Regular cleaning is key, especially with .22s.

I’ve found that using subsonic rounds reduces noise significantly—great for backyard practice!

Subsonic is the way to go for quiet sessions! Gotta keep the neighbors happy—unless you’re running a one-man circus.

LOL! I try to avoid a circus myself, but sometimes it’s hard not to have a show with all the misfires…

How do you all feel about the cost of .22 ammo? I’ve found it frustrating at times with the prices fluctuating.

I’ve been looking into upgrades for my H&R 9 shot as well! For sights, I recommend a Williams Firesight front sight. It really improves your accuracy.

It’s definitely a rollercoaster! Just when you think you’ve found a good deal, it spikes again. Gotta stay patient.

That’s a great tip! I love the idea of enhancing that visibility, especially when shooting outdoors.

In terms of grips, consider Hogue grips. They offer a more comfortable hold and help with recoil—very beneficial for a .22!

I can’t agree more! The stock grips can be a bit slippery, and Hogue significantly improves handling.

Has anyone tried internal upgrades? I’ve read about improved hammers and triggers that really can make a difference in feel.

I haven’t done internal upgrades yet, but I’d be cautious. Sometimes they can change the revolver’s balance or performance negatively.

True! I also think a polished internals job might enhance smoothness without going wild with modifications.

I’ve seen some great DIY videos on tuning the internals! A bit of polishing might do the trick without spending too much.

I’m a bit skeptical about DIY modifications. There’s a fine line between improvement and ruining the revolver’s reliability.

I think that’s a fair point! Also, what about adding a weighted barrel? I’ve heard mixed opinions on that.
