What's the Best IWB Holster for a Glock 23?

I’m in the market for a new IWB (Inside-The-Waistband) holster for my Glock 23 and could really use some feedback. I’ve heard a lot of different opinions but really want to sort through the noise.

What I’m Looking For:

  1. Comfort: I need something that I can wear for extended periods without it digging into my side.
  2. Concealment: I live in a state where concealed carry is legal, so it’s crucial that it keeps my Glock 23 discreet.
  3. Ease of Use: Quick access is important to me, especially in situations where split-second decisions are necessary.

Things I’ve Considered:

  • Kydex vs Leather: I keep hearing mixed opinions on these materials. Some say Kydex is better for retention, while others argue leather is more comfortable. Is one really better than the other?
  • Retention Level: How much retention should I look for in a holster for CCW? I don’t want it falling out, but it also needs to be easy to draw.

Specific Brands/Models:

If you have any specific brands or models you’re a fan of, please share! I’m open to all recommendations and would love to hear personal experiences with different holsters.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I’ve tried a few IWB holsters for my Glock 23, and I highly recommend the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.5. The neoprene backing makes it super comfortable for prolonged wear, and it molds well to my body shape.

I second that! I also found the Cloak Tuck 3.5 to be quite comfortable, especially during long drives. The adjustable cant is a great feature.

I went with a Kydex holster for my Glock 23, and while it’s not as comfortable as leather options, I love the retention and accessibility it offers. Just a trade-off I’m willing to make for easier draws!

That’s a good point! Kydex does feel different, but for me, it can dig into my side after a few hours. Have you tried any padding?

So far, I’ve enjoyed using the CrossBreed SuperTuck Deluxe with my Glock 23. The leather feels great against the skin, and the design allows for a comfortable fit throughout the day.

I’ve heard great things about that holster! Does it conceal well for you? I worry about printing with IWB carry.

I personally lean towards hybrid holsters. The blend of leather and Kydex often gives the best of both worlds – comfort during wear and solid retention.

That sounds interesting! Which specific hybrid holster do you recommend for the Glock 23?

I have a Galco KingTuk, and it’s been fantastic. It’s comfortable even after hours of wear. Just remember – a good belt really makes a difference with IWB holsters!

Totally! A sturdy belt is essential. I once tried an IWB with a flimsy belt and it was a disaster! Comfort level was zero.

I’ve tried a couple of different brands, but the comfort level varies. Something about the material can make a world of difference. Leather feels nice, but I often prefer the cooling effect of fabric in summer.

Absolutely! And considering the climate where you live, fabric might be better. What do you think about moisture-wicking options?

Reflecting on my experience, it really comes down to personal preference. What works for one might not work for another. Always good to try a few before settling!

I’m currently using a CrossBreed Holsters SuperTuck and love the retention. It holds my Glock 23 securely and draws smoothly. Security features include steel clips and an adjustable cant.

I’ve heard great things about that! Have you tried drawing in different positions, like sitting down? I’m curious about real-world comfort.

For a more budget-friendly option, the Concealment Express IWB holster has been great for me. Minimal retention, but still secure. It’s also lightweight, which makes a difference on long days.

That sounds interesting! How easy is the draw on that holster when you’re moving around? I’ve struggled with holsters that aren’t smooth.

I’ve tried the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.5, and it’s very secure with adjustable retention. However, I find it a bit bulky under tighter clothing. The ease of draw is decent, though.

Bulky holsters can be a pain. I prefer slim designs like the Tulster Profile Holster. Retention is via a single retention toggle, but it feels flawless. Draw is quick and reliable for me.
