What are the best iron sights for Glock 19?

I’ve been doing some research on iron sights for my Glock 19, and I want to hear from the community about your experiences. What are the best options out there?

Why Upgrade?

Upgrading your Glock 19’s iron sights can significantly enhance your shooting accuracy. Especially if you’re using your firearm for competitive shooting or personal defense, having the right sights is crucial for quick target acquisition.

What to Consider

When choosing iron sights, consider the following factors:

  • Visibility: Look for sights with bright colors or tritium options for low-light conditions.
  • Durability: Ensure the sights can withstand rough use and are made from quality materials.
  • Type of Sight: Do you prefer fixed sights or adjustable ones? What about fiber optic versus traditional?

Popular Options

I’ve come across a few brands that seem to be favorites among shooters:

  • Trijicon HD XR Sights - Known for their excellent visibility and durability.
  • AmeriGlo Pro I-Dot - Offers a clean sight picture and great performance.
  • Dawson Precision - Highly regarded for their precision and customization options.

Your Experience

I’m curious to hear your thoughts! What sights do you use and why? Have you noticed a significant improvement in your accuracy after switching? Any tips for someone looking to upgrade?

Looking forward to the discussion!

I’ve found that polymer sights are lightweight and resistant to rust, which is great for my Glock 19. They hold up well in different weather conditions too.

That’s really interesting! I’ve only tried metal sights and they definitely feel sturdier. How do the polymer sights compare in terms of durability when dropped?

From my experience, metal sights, particularly steel, offer superior durability against drops. But they’re heavier, which can affect the balance of the Glock 19.

Exactly, steel does provide stability! But I’ve seen some good aluminum options that are surprisingly tough.

I’ve had aluminum sights on my Glock for two years now, and they’ve held up fine even with regular use in harsh weather. They really surprised me!

That’s good to hear, Daniel. Do you find that they scratch easily? I’m worried about visibility in sunlight.

Great question! I’ve noticed some fine scratches, but it hasn’t seriously affected visibility for me.

For overall performance, I think the finish on the sights matters too. Some coatings repel dirt and moisture really well.

I totally agree, Nathaniel! My Glock’s factory finish was prone to wear. I’ve switched to sights with a Cerakote finish and love it. So much more durable!

What about the night sights? Are they as tough? I’m wondering if they perform well in your conditions.

Night sights have glass elements which can be more fragile, but they are still quite reliable for low-light conditions.

I’ve seen some funny videos of people testing their sights with drops…but honestly, I’d rather not risk my Glock’s accuracy just for a laugh!

Ha! Valid point, Angela. Just be cautious with your gear! Reflecting on material choices can save us a lot of trouble later.

I’ve been using the Trijicon HD XR sights on my Glock 19 and the sight picture is fantastic! The larger orange front sight makes acquisition quick, even in low light.

I agree, but I found the rear notch a bit too wide for my liking. Have you tried anything other than Trijicon?

I switched to AmeriGlo Pro-IDOT sights and love the sight alignment. The U-notch helps me focus better and allows for quick shooting. Really helps with precision!

I wonder if people prefer standard notch sights! Do you think it comes down to personal comfort?

Definitely! I feel like some days I prefer the standard notch for a more traditional feel. It gives me more confidence. Anyone else feel that way?

I’ve actually had the opposite experience with standard notch. Just couldn’t get my alignment down. U-notch for the win!
