Need Help with My Marlin Model 60 Trigger – Modifications and Upgrades?

I’m reaching out to fellow enthusiasts looking to improve the trigger mechanism on my Marlin Model 60. I’ve been experiencing some issues with the trigger feel, and I’m considering a few modifications to enhance its performance.

What I’ve Noticed

  • Stiff Trigger Pull: The trigger pull feels a bit rough and heavier than I’d like.
  • Inconsistencies: Sometimes it feels like it’s catching or not breaking cleanly, which has affected my shooting accuracy.

What I’m Considering

I’m thinking about either replacing the trigger assembly with an aftermarket option or doing some DIY tweaking to the existing trigger. I’ve heard that some modifications can lead to a smoother pull and a significant improvement overall.

Questions for the Community

  • Aftermarket Parts: Can anyone recommend specific aftermarket trigger parts or kits that have worked well for them?
  • DIY Modifications: If you’ve done any DIY modifications, what steps did you take, and did you encounter any challenges?
  • Tools Needed: What tools would I need for this kind of work?

I want to ensure I do this safely and effectively, so any advice or sharing of personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!

Looking forward to your insights!

I’ve done a few mods on my Marlin Model 60 trigger. A lighter trigger pull really helps with accuracy. I recommend using a trigger scale to get it just right.

Absolutely! In my case, I used a Wolff spring kit, and it made a world of difference. Less creep too!

Make sure to clean your trigger mechanism before starting any adjustments. Dirt can make a significant difference in performance.

Great point! I always clean every part before attempting any mods, just to be safe.

I’ve heard mixed reviews about trigger jobs. Some say it ruins the reliability. Has anyone experienced that?

Not for me! I’ve put hundreds of rounds through mine, and the reliability has remained solid.

Anyone tried polishing the sear? I read it can improve the trigger feel.

I did that with my Model 60! It really smoothed out the trigger pull. Just go easy with the polishing.

For tools, a good set of punches and a trigger pull gauge is essential. It makes the job so much easier.

Totally agree! I invested in a digital gauge, and it’s been worth every penny for accurate adjustments.

Good advice! Patience is key. I once tried to rush and ended up with a trigger that was way too light. It was not fun at the range.

Isn’t it funny how a little adjustment can change everything? I almost feel like a trigger smith now! Ha!

Haha! I know the feeling! I think every DIY modder feels like a pro after some successful tweaks!

I think we all have aspirations of mastering our firearms. Just remember to practice safety above all!

I’m having issues with misfires on my Marlin Model 60. It happens randomly, and I’m not sure where to start troubleshooting. Any advice?

Have you checked the firing pin and spring? Sometimes, replacing these parts can resolve misfire issues. Also, clean the chamber well!

Cleaning is key! I also noticed that mine had issues when the magazine was dirty. Make sure to inspect that too!

I’ve been dealing with a heavy trigger pull on my Model 60. Is there a way to lighten it without compromising safety?

Consider doing a trigger job on your Model 60. Polishing the sear surfaces can help reduce the pull weight significantly.
