Mauser M18 6.5 PRC - Looking for Reviews and Insights

I’ve been hearing a lot about the Mauser M18 chambered in 6.5 PRC, and I’m curious to gather some insights and reviews from fellow enthusiasts. It seems like a great option for both hunting and precision shooting, but I’d love to hear about real-world experiences.

Here are some questions I have:

  • Performance: How does the M18 shoot at range? Any personal experiences with accuracy and consistency?
  • Durability: Can anyone speak to the build quality? I’ve heard mixed reviews on some budget rifles, so I’m particularly interested in how the M18 holds up under different conditions.
  • Comparisons: How does the M18 stack up against similar rifles in the same price range or caliber? Any direct comparisons would be helpful.
  • Ammunition: What types of ammunition have you found to work best with this rifle? Any specific brands or types that are more accurate?

I’m looking to either purchase one soon or consider alternatives, so any feedback or reviews would be greatly appreciated! Let’s hear your thoughts!

I’ve had my Mauser M18 in 6.5 PRC for about a year now, and it’s been incredibly accurate. I’ve consistently achieved under 1 MOA at 100 yards with my handloads. Highly recommend it!

That’s great to hear! How does it perform beyond 100 yards? Any noticeable drop or wind drift?

I’ve taken mine out to 600 yards and found it retains its accuracy really well. As for bullet drop, I generally calculate around 10-12 inches at that range depending on conditions.

Interesting! Do you use a specific bullet weight that helps minimize drop?

Absolutely! I prefer the 143 grain ELD-X. It shoots flat and performs wonderfully on game. I’ve had some impressive knockdowns with it!

That weight seems popular! What’s been your experience with it on larger game?

I’ve used it on elk and it performed remarkably well. Quick ethical kills and the expansion was perfect. Very happy with the choice.

I’m also curious how the recoil feels with the 6.5 PRC. I’ve shot other calibers that kick a bit too much for my liking.

In my experience, it’s very manageable. I find it easy to stay on target for quick follow-ups.

I had one issue with it jamming once at the range, but I think it was due to the ammo I used. Since switching to better quality ammo, it’s been flawless.

Glad to hear you’ve sorted it out! Do you find it easy to clean after a day at the range?

Yes, very easy! The modular design makes it simple to maintain. It’s one of the features I really appreciate about the M18.

I haven’t bought one yet but I’m leaning towards it. It’s hard to ignore the positive feedback about its accuracy!

You should definitely get one! Considering the price point, it’s a fantastic rifle.

I’ve had my Mauser M18 in 6.5 PRC for a few months now, and I must say, the build quality is impressive! The action feels smooth, and the stock has a nice grip.

I totally agree! The trigger sensitivity on mine is spot on, allowing for really precise shots without any excess creep.

The ergonomics of the Mauser M18 really stand out. The way the stock fits in your hand is just right for long shooting sessions. It’s comfortable and well-balanced.

Yes, the trigger is quite light, which some may find too sensitive. I’ve had a few accidental touches myself during practice; just a heads up!

I’ve heard mixed reviews about the stock material. Some say it feels a bit plasticky. What do you all think? I’m curious about the build quality in that aspect.
