I’ve been on the hunt for a non-toxic gun cleaner that does the job without all the harsh chemicals and strong odors. I want something that’s effective for cleaning various types of firearms but doesn’t leave me with a headache after use.
Here are a few things I’m particularly interested in:
Effectiveness: Does it work well on both pistols and rifles?
Safety: Is it truly non-toxic? I have some sensitivities and want to avoid harsh chemicals.
Odor: What’s the smell like? I prefer something with a milder scent while cleaning.
If you have any personal experiences or recommendations on brands or products that fit this description, I’d love to hear about them! Additionally, if you have tips for using these cleaners effectively, please share. Thanks in advance for your help!
I’m on the hunt for a good non-toxic gun cleaner too! I’ve heard great things about the Bio-Clean and how it performs against carbon buildup. Has anyone tried it?
I tried Bio-Clean last week, and I was pleasantly surprised! It cut through the grime without any harsh smells. Just be sure to let it soak on really dirty areas.
Bio-Clean is good, but I’ve had amazing results with the M-Pro 7. It removes fouling just as well as traditional cleaners! Plus, I appreciate that it’s non-toxic.
I usually spray and let it sit for a bit, then scrub. The M-Pro 7 really shines when given time to work. Can’t go wrong with it for preventing buildup!
You might also consider the Hoppe’s No. 9 Synthetic. It’s non-toxic, and I’ve found it removes fouling as good as the traditional stuff, minus the smell!
It’s pretty user-friendly! I’ve had good luck with minimal scrubbing. But, like any cleaner, the tougher the fouling, the more you might need to work at it!
I’m also looking for non-toxic gun cleaners! I’ve heard good things about Simple Green. It claims to be safe and effective without harsh chemicals. Has anyone tried it?
Have you checked the ingredients on Simple Green? It has a few surfactants that may not be suitable for everyone, especially those with allergies. What are the ingredients in other cleaners you’re considering?
That’s a good point, Paul. I’ve read that some non-toxic cleaners are made from coconut-based ingredients. These tend to have a lower allergy risk. Does anyone have specific brands in mind?
I’ve seen brands like EcoSmart and Gun Cleaner that market themselves as non-toxic. They seem pretty safe based on their materials. I wonder how they stack up against traditional chemical cleaners in terms of efficiency.
Gun cleaning is a serious business! It’s hard to believe that some people still use harsh chemicals. Has anyone measured the environmental impact of these cleaners?
Truly! It’s shocking how many chemical cleaners are out there. Eco-friendly options should be the norm by now. What’s the best way to ensure they are effective?
