Looking for SR 4756 Powder Load Data

I’m diving into handloading and came across SR 4756 powder. I’m particularly interested in load data and recipes that work well with this powder, especially for calibers like .38 Special and .45 Colt.

If anyone has experience with this powder, could you please share:

  • Recommended starting loads?
  • Any specific bullet weights that work best?
  • Overall performance in terms of accuracy and recoil?

I’m also curious about its versatility in different shooting sports or hunting scenarios. Any insights or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I’m currently testing SR 4756 powder and have noticed it has a fine grain size. This leads to a quicker burn rate. What are some recommended load data you’re looking for?

I’ve heard that SR 4756 is consistent but varies with temperature. Anyone else noticing that in their results?

Temperature does indeed influence SR 4756 performance. My loads dropped significantly in cooler weather. What grain weight are you all using with this powder?

I’ve been using a 10-grain charge and found it to work well for my needs. I agree with the fine grain size, allowing for good accuracy. Anyone else tried different weights?

I typically load at 9.5 grains. The burn rate seems spot on, but I’m keen to hear if anyone’s experienced pressure issues?

Absolutely! I had some overpressure signs with 10 grains. Always check with a chronograph!

Using SR 4756, I found that the performance is incredibly reliable. The powder consistency helps maintain accuracy, especially during competition.

I completely agree! It really shines in a long string of rounds without much variation.

How does everyone feel about the difference in burn rate compared to other powders? I’ve had mixed experiences with various types!

The burn rate for SR 4756 is quite fast! But sometimes, a faster burn can lead to more fouling. Anyone else experience that?

Yes, I’ve noticed that too. Maybe it’s just me, but I prefer to clean my rifle more often when using it!

SR 4756 can be finicky, but once you find that sweet spot, it can be super rewarding. Who doesn’t love a well-timed shot to make their day?

I’m also looking for SR 4756 load data! I’ve heard good things about it for 45 ACP. Anyone have recommendations for bullet weights?

For SR 4756, I’ve had great success with 200 gr SWC. Generally, you can start around 5.0 gr and work up to 5.5 gr. Keep an eye on the groups; it’s all about that accuracy!

Don’t forget to check peer-reviewed sources! I found a couple of really useful articles that provide solid data on SR 4756 for various calibers.

What cartridge types are you focusing on? I’ve had good luck with 9mm using SR 4756, but I’m still experimenting with charge weights.

I’ve also read that SR 4756 can provide good velocities in 40 S&W. Anyone have specific load data for that?

You should definitely be cautious when handling SR 4756, especially at higher charges. Safety first, folks!
