I’ve found the Blackhawk ergonomics to be decent. While it’s good for a few boxes of ammo, I think it could use a bit more padding on the grips for extra comfort.
That’s interesting! I didn’t notice that at all. I found it quite comfortable, but maybe I have tougher hands? Haha!
I love the fact that I can switch from .357 to 9mm easily, but I wish the process was just a tad smoother. It’s not difficult, but it could be improved.
Exactly! Once you get the hang of it, it’s fine, but I agree – a little smoother would be perfect. Just a minor thing for an otherwise solid revolver!
The balance of the Blackhawk is fantastic! I spent hours at the range last weekend and felt like I could keep going. Definitely a plus for extended shooting!
So true! Plus, switching calibers makes it feel like you’re getting two guns for the price of one. That makes it so versatile!
I’m totally with you all on comfort and usability! It’s definitely one of the best revolvers I’ve ever handled for both calibers. It makes for a fun day at the range!
Totally! I’m curious though, how does it compare for those who have tried other Ruger models? Is the Blackhawk the best in terms of ergonomics?
I’ve owned other Rugers, but the Blackhawk Convertible feels more comfortable for me personally. The grip fits my hand just right, but I heard others have different opinions.
I can understand that! For me, it felt a bit bulky at first, but I grew to appreciate it. The weight feels reassuring.
I think for a revolver, it’s pretty good, but my friend had some issues with it jamming occasionally when switching between calibers. Has anyone else experienced that?
I haven’t had any jams during my sessions, but I typically shoot mostly .357. Maybe that makes the difference?
I’ve had a few hiccups, too, especially if I didn’t clean it properly. Keeping it in shape is important, but when it’s clean, it’s a blast to shoot!
Haha! Like any relationship, right? Just a little maintenance goes a long way! Always enjoy taking it out.
I’ve had my Ruger Blackhawk Convertible for about three years. Maintenance is pretty straightforward—just regular cleaning after shooting. I’ve noticed minimal wear over time, and it still fires like new!
That’s great to hear! I’ve been leaning towards getting one for its versatility. Any specific cleaning products you recommend?
I use CLP for cleaning, which does a fantastic job and keeps everything lubricated. The grips are durable too; I haven’t had any signs of wear there.
Good tip! I’ve been using just regular gun oil—should I switch to CLP for better results?
I switched to CLP and noticed a marked improvement. Less friction means less wear over time. Definitely worth a try, Joseph!
I’ve had mine for 5 years and only had to replace the springs once. The design is solid, and I’ve found it very reliable for both .357 and 9mm.
