Looking for Recommendations on 10/22 Magazine Pouches

Seeking Advice on 10/22 Magazine Pouches

I’ve been doing a lot of shooting with my Ruger 10/22 lately, and I’m finding that managing my magazines could use some improvement. I want to make the most of my time at the range, and fumbling around with my gear isn’t helping!

What I’m Looking For

I’m specifically interested in finding a magazine pouch (or pouches) that would allow me to carry several Ruger 10/22 magazines efficiently. Here’s what I’m considering:

  • Capacity: Ideally, I’d like something that can hold at least two or three magazines at once. Extra capacity would be a bonus, especially for longer shooting sessions.
  • Durability: It’s important that the pouches can withstand some wear and tear. I am not looking to replace them frequently!
  • Comfort: I want to carry them easily, whether on my belt or attached to my bag. Any suggestions for comfortable solutions would be great.
  • Quick Access: I hate fumbling around when I need to reload, so a design that allows quick and easy access to the magazines is crucial.

Types to Consider

I’ve seen various styles:

  • Tactical Pouches: These usually have MOLLE webbing and can attach to gear easily. I’m curious if they’re overkill for casual use.
  • Standard Pouches: Like the basic belt pouches that hold 2 or 3 magazines neatly. Are they reliable?
  • Open vs. Closed top: Which type do you think is better for my needs?

I’m looking into 10/22 magazine pouches and was wondering about the materials used. I’ve heard nylon is light but can wear out over time. Anyone have experiences with that?

That’s true! Nylon is great for lightweight pouches, but leather is definitely more durable. It can handle the elements better, though it weighs more.

I’ve used both nylon and leather pouches. The leather ones are fantastic in terms of durability, but sometimes I feel like I’m carrying a brick! Anyone tried polymer pouches?

I have! They are surprisingly lightweight and quite durable. Plus, they’re typically easier to clean than leather.

I’ve heard polymer pouches are great for weather resistance too. How do they stack up against leather in terms of long-term use?

LOL, I guess it depends on what kind of ‘weight’ we’re talking about! Heavy-duty leather can be killer for a weekend walk but brutal for a long hike. Balance is key!

From my experience, leather wins in long-term durability, but if you’re looking for something lightweight and versatile, polymer could be the way to go.

True, and with rain, it can get heavier too! How does everyone feel about the weather resistance of these materials?

I’d say nylon and polymer are generally better when it comes to being weather-resistant. Leather can handle moisture but might soak it in if not treated right.

I’ve read mixed reviews on treated leather. Some claim it stays durable and weather-resistant, while others have faced issues. What has everyone’s experience been?

I’ve always avoided leather because of that worry! For me, it’s been nylon vs. polymer, and I prefer polymer for its easy maintenance.

Same here! Plus, they come in so many colors! Just makes it more fun to accessorize!

But then again, colors don’t make up for durability! What’s the average lifespan for these different materials under regular use?

Typically, nylon lasts about 2-3 years with frequent use, while leather can last a decade or more if cared for. Polymer is kind of in between! Tough choices!

Hey everyone! I’m looking for recommendations on magazine pouches for my Ruger 10/22. What features should I consider for both standard and tactical setups?

I recommend looking for pouches that have adjustable retention. It really helps with both higher capacity and tactical magazines!

I’ve got the Condor Double Magazine Pouch, and it fits my 10/22 perfectly. It’s great for accessibility and holds both standard and tactical magazines securely.

That sounds solid! Does anyone know if the flap is removable? I like the option to customize my setup.

Yes, the flap on the Condor pouch is removable! I swap it out for a more open design sometimes. Makes it easier to grab pouches quickly!
