I’m glad to see this topic! I’ve been shooting the Remington 11-48 for years. In terms of reliability, it’s been solid for me, even in wet conditions. The cycling is smooth, and it’s great for both hunting and clay shooting.
I’ve had some issues with jamming in cold weather, but it handles everything else really well. I use standard loads for hunting and the 11-48 shoots accurately at reasonable ranges. It just needs a little maintenance!
I’ve used Hoppes No. 9 for cleaning, and it works well. Overall, I think the 11-48 is a fantastic piece for the price. The accuracy can impress even those shooting with much newer, higher-end models.
I love my 11-48! The balance feels perfect when shooting. I mainly shoot trap and have had few issues. Definitely worth considering if you’re looking for a reliable shotgun.
Mine has performed best on windy days while duck hunting. Wouldn’t believe how well it cycles through tough conditions! Just gotta be careful about mud and debris.
I can imagine! I’ve always found it to be quite forgiving with various loads, but hunting muddy fields could be a challenge. Anyone had any other unexpected adventures with theirs?
Just during a clay shoot last summer! Lost my footing and ended up on my backside, but the shotgun? No issues at all! Had everyone cracking up. It definitely handled the fall better than I did!
Honestly, it might be the weight for some. It’s not a lightweight model, which could be challenging for all-day carry. But if you can handle it, it’s definitely worth it for its performance.
I’ve owned a Remington 11-48 for over a decade. It requires regular cleaning, especially after shooting. Make sure to maintain the gas system for optimal performance.
