Looking for Feedback on the Tex Shoemaker 42A Holster

Introduction

I’m considering adding the Tex Shoemaker 42A holster to my collection, but I’d love to gather some insights before making a purchase. I see that there’s quite a bit of buzz around this model, especially among collectors and firearm enthusiasts.

Holster Overview

The Tex Shoemaker 42A is noted for its craftsmanship and durability, but I want to hear from others about their experiences. Have you found this holster to be comfortable for everyday carry? What about ease of draw and retention?

Quality & Craftsmanship

From what I’ve read, Tex Shoemaker is well-respected when it comes to holsters. Could anyone share their views on the quality of materials and construction of the 42A? Is it worth the price, especially if I’m looking for longevity and reliability?

Availability & Pricing

I’ve spotted a few listings online, including some vintage options on eBay. Are there specific places you recommend for purchasing the 42A? Have you scored any great deals, or do you believe new ones are worth it?

Community & Recommendations

Lastly, if anyone has suggestions on alternatives or replicas that come close to the Tex Shoemaker’s quality, I would greatly appreciate it. Let’s discuss our experiences, where to buy, and any tips on what to look for in a good holster.

Looking forward to your feedback!

I’ve had my Tex Shoemaker 42A for two years now. The leather is incredibly durable and has held up well against daily wear. It still looks great!

That’s good to hear! How about its performance in bad weather? Any issues with water or humidity?

I’ve used it through rain and shine. It does well in the rain if you treat it with a good leather conditioner. Just avoid letting it soak too much.

Good advice! I was curious if the holster stretches or loosens over time as well. Anyone notice that?

It does stretch a bit, but not excessively. I think it’s a normal part of leather wear. It still retains its shape pretty well overall.

The stitching on mine has held up perfectly! I worry about cheap stitching on some holsters, but this one is solid.

I’ve read reviews claiming the same. Could it possibly be a different experience if I use it daily versus casually?

I suppose so, but I think the robust materials used should handle daily use just fine. It’s what the holster is made for!

What materials are actually used in the construction? Anyone know for sure?

It’s primarily made of high-quality leather, reinforced with some synthetic elements to enhance durability. Overall, it strikes a solid balance.

That’s interesting! I imagine this affects both weight and comfort while wearing it, right?

Yes, it’s quite comfortable for extended wear. The weight feels balanced, which is nice for a holster in this category.

Also, is it easy to clean? I’ve seen some leather holsters can get pretty grimy.

Cleaning it is quite simple! Just use a damp cloth and some mild soap, then let it dry. Keeps it looking fresh without hassle.

That’s a relief! I’ve had some bad experiences with holsters that are practically impossible to clean!

I’ve been using the Tex Shoemaker 42A holster with my Glock 19. The fit is excellent, and I’ve found it really comfortable for all-day wear.

That’s great to hear! I had been wondering how it fits with smaller models like the Sig P365. Any thoughts on that?

I’ve tried it with a P365 too. It holds the pistol securely, but you might want to adjust to find the sweet spot for comfort.

I love my Tex Shoemaker 42A! I’ve even worn it to the range for hours, and it does not dig into my side at all.
