Looking forward to hearing from you all!

I’ve had the Browning .308 lever action for over a year. It’s surprisingly accurate, even at 300 yards. I’ve used both factory ammunition and handloads, and it performs well with both. I mainly hunt deer, and it’s been great!

Thanks for sharing, jodi13! I’ve been considering using this rifle for target shooting. Do you think it holds up well under those conditions compared to hunting?

In my experience, the .308 lever action is versatile. I’ve used it for both hunting and target shooting at varying distances. It performs reliably, but be mindful of the ammunition type you use, especially if you’re shooting at longer ranges.

Absolutely! I’ve taken mine to a range and had no issues grouping shots. It’s definitely a fun rifle to shoot on the range.

I’ve owned a Browning .308 for about six months now. It shoots straight and has a smooth action. I think the performance is what you’d expect from a lever action, but it’s unlike any bolt action I’ve used. Perfect for quick follow-up shots!

That sounds great, brice! I’m curious about the recoil. Is it manageable with this rifle? I’ve heard conflicting opinions.

The recoil is pretty mild for a .308. I think it’s due to the weight of the rifle. I’ve shot it comfortably, even after several rounds. Just ensure you’re braced properly, and it won’t surprise you at all.

Glad to hear that about the recoil! As a new lever action user, I worry about how it compares to my previous rifles. I mainly hunt and want something that can handle quick shots without much kick.

You won’t regret picking this rifle up! It’s user-friendly and perfect for quick follow-ups while hunting. Transitioning to it from bolt actions will be easy, in my experience.

That’s awesome to hear! What’s the best ammunition you’ve found for hunting, specifically for this rifle?

I’ve had great results with 150 gr soft points for deer hunting. They expand well and provide a clean kill, plus the rifle cycles them without any issues.

Good to know! I’ll definitely try those. What about accuracy at longer distances? Does it hold up well?

For sure! At 400 yards, I was still getting decent groups. You may need to be a bit more deliberate with aiming, but it’s definitely doable if you’re patient with your adjustments.

That’s encouraging! I hope to do some longer range shooting someday. Any particular maintenance tips for keeping it accurate over time?

Just regular cleaning and inspection will go a long way. Pay special attention to the chamber and the magazine. Keeping everything clear helps maintain accuracy.

Thanks for the tip! Final question: Any peculiarities about the lever action mechanism I should be aware of?

The main thing is to ensure you’re cycling it smoothly. If you rush, it might jam. Just take it slow, and you’ll love the lever action experience!

I recently got my hands on the Browning .308 Lever Action Rifle and I have to say, the ergonomics are fantastic! The grip is comfortable, allowing for a solid hold while shooting.

That’s great to hear, tara07! I found that the weight distribution is quite balanced too. It feels manageable, which is important for longer shooting sessions.
