I’m in the market for a complete 300 Blackout upper that’s 16 inches long and was hoping to hear some recommendations from fellow enthusiasts.
What I’m Looking For:
Quality : I’m aiming for something durable and reliable.
Price Range : Open to options, but trying to stay within a reasonable budget.
Features : Would love to know about any particular features I should look for or avoid.
Questions:
Has anyone had experience with specific brands or models they can recommend?
Are there any lesser-known retailers that offer good deals on these upper receivers?
How does a 16-inch barrel perform in terms of ballistics and accuracy with 300 Blackout; is it worth it?
Your insights would be greatly appreciated as I navigate this purchase. Thanks in advance!

I’m looking for a complete 300 Blackout upper too! I’ve heard mixed reviews about certain brands. What should I focus on?

What should I focus on?
Definitely look at the barrel length. A 16-inch barrel gives a good balance of velocity and maneuverability for 300 Blackout. I have a couple of options in mind if you want suggestions!
I’m also in the market! Are you leaning towards any specific brands? I’ve been considering Aero Precision.

Aero Precision makes solid uppers! Just be sure to check the gas system. A pistol-length gas system works great for 300 Blackout.
What about rail options? Should I go with a free float or drop-in for better accuracy?

Free float is generally better for accuracy, especially with suppressors. Just choose a rail that complements your shooting style!
Do any of you have experience with PSA’s uppers? I’ve heard good things but also some concerns about QC.

Concerns about QC.
PSA can be hit or miss. Some people love them, while others have had bad experiences. I’d recommend reading reviews before buying.
I’m leaning towards a CMMG upper. The quality seems consistent, and they have great customer service!
CMMG has a solid reputation, especially with their Banshee series. It’s worth checking out!
How much should I realistically expect to spend on a complete upper? I’m a bit lost on pricing!
Prices vary a lot, but you can find decent options between $400 to $800 for a complete upper. Just keep an eye out for sales!

between $400 to $800.
That makes sense. I was thinking it would be in the $300 range, but I guess quality matters!
Make sure whatever you choose has the right twist rate for the ammo you’re planning to use. It can make a big difference!
Good point! Anyone have thoughts on the ideal twist rate for subsonic vs supersonic rounds?

Usually, 1:8 works well for both subsonic and supersonic. Just choose your ammo wisely!
After all this discussion, I’m feeling much more confident about my choice—thanks everyone! Any last bits of advice?

I’ve had great success with a 16-inch 300 Blackout upper. The shorter barrel does make a difference, especially with subsonic ammo. I get decent accuracy up to 200 yards.
That’s interesting! I wonder how it compares with a 18-inch barrel in terms of velocity.
