H&R Handi Rifle Barrel Program - Looking for Insights and Updates

Introduction

I’m reaching out to all the H&R Handi Rifle enthusiasts here. I’ve recently developed a keen interest in the H&R Handi Rifle barrel program and am considering expanding my collection with some extra barrels.

A Bit of Background

For those who might not be familiar, the H&R Handi Rifle is a single-shot firearm that allows users to swap out barrels, making it very versatile. Over the years, I’ve heard mixed reports about the barrel program’s stability, including discussions around the availability of new and used barrels, compatibility across different models, and even some chatter about possible discontinuation of the program.

Questions I Have

  • Availability: Are there new barrels still being produced? If so, what’s the process for purchasing them?
  • Used Barrels: How can one find reliable used barrels? Are there trusted sources or auctions you all recommend?
  • Interchangeability: For those who own multiple models, how interchangeable are the barrels? Do they fit seamlessly from one model to another, or are there complications?
  • Recent Changes: Have there been any updates or changes to the barrel program lately that fellow users should be aware of?

User Experiences

If you have any experiences or advice about purchasing or using additional barrels, I’d love to hear about them!

  • What types of barrels do you find most enjoyable or useful?
  • Any tips on maintaining or swapping barrels effectively would also be appreciated!

Conclusion

Let’s gather around and share our thoughts or any info we might have about this ever-evolving barrel program. Looking forward to your insights!

Thanks in advance for your help.

The program allows you to purchase additional barrels for your Handi Rifle, enabling you to switch calibers easily. You just need to follow the order process through H&R’s website or local dealer.

What calibers are available in the starting lineup for the barrel program? I want to make sure I can find something that suits my hunting needs.

Customization options are always a plus! Can anyone tell me more about the types of barrel finishes they offer?

They typically offer blued and stainless steel finishes. Having options lets you match your rifle to your personal style.

I think adding more barrels is a great idea! Each barrel gives you a new experience with the same rifle. What’s the turnaround time once you order a new barrel?

Typically, it takes anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks for delivery, depending on production schedules. It’s worth the wait!

Does anyone have experience with the installation process? Is it fairly straightforward?

Changing the barrels is quite easy! There’s no need for gunsmithing. Just a few basic tools, and you can do it yourself.

I’ve seen some folks say the accuracy of the H&R rifles varies after barrel changes. Is that true?

I’ve found that as long as you use quality ammunition and take time to sight in each new barrel properly, accuracy shouldn’t suffer significantly.

I love the idea of the H&R Handi Rifle, but I wish they offered even more barrel choices. How about something in a Mag caliber?

Totally agree! Throw in a .338 Mag or a .300 Win Mag, and I’d be all in for that. More options would attract a wider audience.

I’m really interested in the H&R Handi Rifle Barrel Program! I’m primarily a hunter. Does anyone have experience with .308 barrels for deer hunting?

I’ve used a .308 for years and it’s fantastic for deer. The bullet drop is manageable, and the knockdown power is great. Just make sure to practice at different ranges to know your trajectory!

I totally agree with charles45. The .308 is extremely versatile! If you ever want to switch to target shooting too, it works well for that as well.
