DWX Compact Optic Ready: What Should I Know?

I’ve recently come across the Dan Wesson DWX Compact, and I’m particularly interested in its optics-ready features. It seems like a fantastic option for those of us looking to enhance our shooting experience, but I could really use some input from those who have had hands-on experience with it.

Features to Consider

  1. Optics Cut:

    • Does the factory optic cut accommodate a wide range of optics?
    • Are there any specific brands that fit particularly well?
  2. Durability:

    • How does the DWX Compact hold up in various conditions? I want something reliable for both practice and personal defense.
  3. Shooting Experience:

    • What’s the trigger like? How does it compare to other compact pistols on the market?
    • Any feedback on recoil and overall handling?

Availability

  • Are the optics-ready models readily available, or do I need to wait for a shipment?
  • How do the prices compare with similar models?

User Experiences

  • If you’ve taken the plunge and purchased a DWX Compact, what’s your first impression?
  • Any issues, or is it living up to the hype?

I’d love to hear your thoughts, experiences, and any tips to help me make a more informed decision before purchasing. Thanks in advance for the help!

I’m really eager to learn about optics compatibility with the DWX Compact Optic Ready system. What have you all been using?

I’ve had great success with Trijicon RMRs. They fit perfectly and have held zero well even after heavy use.

I agree with amberadams! The RMR is top-notch. Also, consider Holosun optics—they’re surprisingly affordable and very reliable.

How do you mount it? I’ve heard mounting techniques can really affect performance.

When mounting, ensure you properly torque the screws. I also recommend using blue Loctite to prevent loosening over time.

Hey, that’s good advice, alyssawall! I’ve seen some folks forgetting to do that and ending up with a wobbly optic. Just a nightmare on the range!

Seriously! Is there a specific torque spec you all follow when mounting optics on the DWX?

I’ve heard 15-20 in-lbs is a good range for most optics. Just make sure to check periodically, especially after a few range days!

Love the tips! I’m considering trying the Swampfox optics as well. Has anyone had experience with those?

I’ve used Swampfox products, and they’re good value for money! The Liberty model has a great reticle and is quite durable.

So, to wrap things up, what about zeroing these optics? Any unique strategies to share? Or just the old, ‘put it on paper and adjust’?

Hi everyone! I just started installing the DWX Compact Optic Ready, and it looks more complex than I thought. What tools will I need?

You’ll need a torque wrench, screws, and a punch tool for installation. Don’t forget some blue Loctite for securing screws!

When mounting optics, make sure to align them correctly. If they’re off even slightly, it can affect accuracy significantly. Good luck!

That’s great advice! Any tips on common pitfalls to avoid during installation?

Definitely avoid cross-threading any screws—the last thing you want is a stripped thread! Take your time, and you should be fine.

I’m considering an optic with different weight. How does this affect the installation?

Heavier optics might require you to adjust the torque settings. Be prepared to experiment a little!

Don’t stress too much! Installation is simpler than it seems once you dive in. Just follow the instructions carefully.
