Anyone tried Cabela's Stand Hunter Extreme Coveralls for cold weather hunting?

Looking for Feedback on Cabela’s Stand Hunter Extreme Coveralls

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect cold weather hunting gear and I keep hearing about Cabela’s Stand Hunter Extreme Coveralls. With the winter hunting season around the corner, I’m curious about how well these coveralls actually perform in real hunting situations.

Here’s what I’m hoping to find out:

  • Warmth: How do they fare in really cold temperatures? Are they insulated enough for long sits in freezing weather?
  • Fit: Do they run true to size? Any tips on sizing up or down based on your experience?
  • Utility: How’s the pocket space? Do you feel like you have enough room for gear, and are the pockets accessible while wearing them?
  • Durability: Having spent some time in the field, do they stand up to the wear and tear of hunting?

Bonus Questions:

  • Comparison: How do they measure up against other cold weather gear you’ve used? Any comparisons to brands like Sitka or other popular hunting gear?
  • Purchasing: Has anyone bought them used? Any recommendations on where to find the best deals, or should I just invest in new?

I want to make sure I’m geared up for the best possible experience this hunting season, so any feedback or insights would be greatly appreciated! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences regarding these coveralls. Thanks in advance!

I’ve been using the Cabela’s Stand Hunter Extreme Coveralls for two seasons now. The material is fantastic! It keeps me warm and dry even in the harshest conditions.

That’s great to hear! Are they breathable too? I tend to overheat when walking long distances.

Yes, they are fairly breathable! I’ve worn them on hikes and didn’t feel stifled, even during exertion.

That’s a relief! I tend to sweat a lot, especially during long waits in the stand.

I’ve found that with proper layering, they handle sweat pretty well. The lining wicks moisture effectively.

What about durability? With all the brush and climbing, how do they hold up over time?

I’ve had some tears in the fabric after extensive use, but nothing a good patch job can’t fix. Overall, they’re quite tough.

That’s kind of concerning. I really don’t want to deal with repairs in the field.

They are well worth it! I’ve used mine in all sorts of weather, and they’ve performed admirably. Just be mindful of thorny bushes!

That’s reassuring! Have any of you used them in the rain? How do they hold up?

Yes! They stayed dry on a pretty nasty day. The water resistance is really impressive.

Good to know! I hate being cold AND wet. What’s the weight like? Heavy? Light?

They’re on the heavier side but not so much that you can’t move comfortably. It feels solid, which I appreciate in colder weather.

That’s what I like to hear! It’s always a balance between warmth and mobility.

I’ve tried the Cabela’s Stand Hunter Extreme Coveralls and overall, I found the fit to be accommodating. I have a larger frame and I was surprised how comfortable they were. Movement was decent for retrieving gear while hunting.

I agree with you! I have a more athletic build and they fit me well. They aren’t overly snug, allowing for good mobility.

I’ve found the coveralls to be a bit bulky in the midsection, which has impacted my mobility somewhat. I’m a size large, so I wonder if sizing down might help with the fit and comfort.

That’s interesting, zjohnson! I didn’t have that issue. It might depend on our different body types—I’m more of a pear shape.

I wear a size XXL and can confirm that they fit pretty well! I feel they give a good range of motion while duck hunting, even when reaching for my gear.
