Anyone have experiences with the Remington 700 Triangle Barrel?

I’ve recently come across the Remington 700 VTR model, which features that unique triangular barrel design. I’m really intrigued by how this might affect accuracy and overall handling during shooting.

I’ve read some mixed reviews online, and it’d be great to get some firsthand opinions from those who own or have shot with it. Here are a few specific things I’m curious about:

  • How does the triangular barrel impact your shooting experience?
  • Is there a noticeable difference in performance compared to traditional round barrels?
  • Any issues with stability or balance while shooting?
  • How does it hold up for different types of ammunition?

If anyone has any insightful thoughts, comparisons, or even links to detailed reviews, I’d really appreciate it! Every little bit helps as I consider making a purchase.

I’ve had a Remington 700 with a triangle barrel for a few years now. The accuracy is fantastic! I’ve noticed it stabilizes well even in windy conditions. Definitely worth considering if you’re in the market.

That’s great to hear! How does it compare with a traditional round barrel in terms of recoil and handling?

In my experience, the triangle barrel offers better heat dissipation which is great for long-range shooting. I prefer it over traditional barrels for extended sessions at the range.

Do you think it’s a significant advantage, or more of a minor improvement?

I’d say it’s a solid advantage when you’re shooting multiple rounds. The round barrel gets quite hot! Just my two cents.

I’ve shot both and found the triangle barrel slightly more stable, but it could be due to personal preference. Anyone else have a different take on this?

I actually find the round barrel easier to handle for quick shots. Balance feels better for me.

That’s interesting, @wilsongregory! I think it might depend on the shooter. I’ve seen solid performances from both, but triangle barrels do have their fans for precision work.

I’ve never shot a triangle barrel, but I’m curious if they offer any benefit in terms of barrel life. Does anyone know?

Good question, @shelbyhansen. I haven’t noticed a significant difference in barrel life, but the triangle barrel seems to resist warping better over time. Could be worth the try!

Love this discussion! I think it ultimately comes down to what the shooter prefers. Both barrels have their strong points. I’m leaning towards testing a triangle barrel myself.

But let’s be real, they both get the job done, right? Just different flavors of awesome!

I guess the real question is, can we use triangle barrels at competitions? Has anyone tried that? Curious about performance under pressure.

Yes, @torresjennifer! I did a match with mine and it performed great. Competitors were impressed! I think triangle barrels can definitely hold up in competition.

I love the triangular design, but skeptics claim it’s just a gimmick. Anyone had issues with it?

I’ve heard that too! A buddy of mine didn’t like it due to aesthetics, but I think that’s a personal issue.

I’ve been looking into the Remington 700 triangle barrel too! From what I gather, there are some great aftermarket options for both performance and looks. For instance, trying out a new stock can really change the feel of the rifle.

Absolutely! I’ve heard good things about installing a tailored muzzle brake that can improve accuracy and reduce recoil. Anyone tried that?

Customization is key with these rifles! The triangle barrel doesn’t just look unique; it can actually help with heat dispersion. Have you thought about adding a custom paint job for aesthetics? That could enhance its appearance significantly!
