Anyone else having issues with their SIG Scorpion 1911?

Discussing SIG Scorpion 1911 Problems

I’ve been hearing a lot about the SIG Scorpion 1911 and couldn’t resist picking one up. However, I’ve encountered a few problems that I believe many others might also face. I’m hoping to create a space where we can all share our experiences and maybe find solutions to common issues.

Common Issues to Discuss:

  1. Reliability: There have been talks about reliability issues. Has anyone experienced frequent misfeeds or jams? I’ve had a couple of frustrating sessions at the range where it just wouldn’t feed properly.

  2. Failure to Eject: Sometimes, I feel like the spent cases don’t eject correctly. Is this something that can be fixed with some minor adjustments, or do I need to look into a more comprehensive solution?

  3. General Performance: How does everyone’s SIG Scorpion 1911 handle after break-in? I’d love to hear about your experiences regarding accuracy and any potential performance drops you might have noticed.

Same here! Mine has been jamming almost every other round. I’ve tried different ammo but it hasn’t helped. Any tips?

Those feeding issues are common. Check if your magazine springs are worn out. Sometimes a good cleaning helps too. It’s worth a shot!

I’ve had similar issues but found that adjusting the extractor fixed my problems! This can often go unnoticed. Have you checked yours?

I’ll have to look into my extractor! It’s just so disheartening when a gun fails at such a critical moment.

Don’t lose hope! The Scorpion can be finicky, but once you get past these issues, it’s a great gun. Hang in there!

I’ve also noticed extraction failures. Sometimes just polishing the feed ramp does wonders! Give it a try.

Polishing the feed ramp sounds simple enough! I’ll definitely give that a shot before considering professional help.

I’m really curious about wear and tear. How many rounds have you guys put through your Scorpions? Mine has less than 100.

I’ve put about 300 rounds through mine. Maybe that’s why I’m facing issues!

At this point, I’d say half of shooting is just about maintaining the gun. If only I could get mine to cooperate!

So true! And it’s almost like that’s the real sport sometimes, isn’t it?

To lighten the mood, maybe we should just start a ‘SIG Scorpion Support Group’. We could share stories while cleaning our guns!

I’m having similar issues with my SIG Scorpion 1911! I’ve noticed that it doesn’t like certain brands of ammunition. Has anyone else found that specific ammo works better than others?

Absolutely! I’ve had great success with Federal and Winchester. Avoiding cheaper brands like Tula seems to help reduce malfunctions.

I’ve heard mixed reviews about S&B ammo with the Scorpion. Some users complain of failures to feed. Anyone had a similar experience?

Yes, I had a lot of problems with S&B. It seemed like the tolerance of the gun didn’t handle it well at all.

I generally prefer Hornady Critical Defense rounds for my Scorpion. They cycle reliably and I’ve never had any jams with them. Just a thought!

I should try those! I typically use Remington UMC, but I’ve experienced a few hiccups lately. Maybe it’s the ammo.
