TENNESSEE HANDGUN PERMIT TRAINING [MANDATORY]
The state of Tennessee requires that mandatory training be finished before the handgun permit application is submitted to the TN Department of Safety. This course is intructed by state certified handgun instructors through TN state certified handgun permit shcools. Use this link to see most of the schools arrainged by county:

The majority of the permit schools conduct their training in a one (1) day course.
There are minimum requirements imposed by the State of Tennesse that consist of:
Active military or withing five years of seperation from military, who can show proof of similar training in the military.
individuals who possess an 'active' Tennessee armed guard security card.
Individuals who move into tennessee who received a license or permit to carry from their former state or do not have a ccw from their former state.

mississippi, missouri, montana, nebraska, new hampshire, new jersey, new mexico, new york, north carolina, oklahoma,
rhode island, south dakota, utah, vermont, washington, west virginia, wisconsin.
States exempted from training requirements:
alaska, arizona, california, colorado, connecticut, delaware, kentucky, louisiana, maryland,
massachusetts, michigan, nevada, ohio, oregon, pennsylvania, south carolina, texas, virginia, wyoming.
