Indoor Gun Ranges: Across the South, more and more
indoor gun ranges are popping up. The reason this is happening is the number of
legally armed citizens who need a location to practice with their carry guns.
Although the outdoor gun clubs are holding their own, the new shooters are drawn to the
indoor gun ranges for two primary reasons: location, and comfort.
The majority of outdoor gun clubs are located in the country. The location causes problems with some people. Indoor gun ranges are taking advantage of new commercial developments that are within the city limits. This results in higher visibility, and easier access to prospective clients. In Murfressboro, TN, a new indoor gun range is being built on one of the busiest roads in Rutherford County. As residents go to work each day on Thompson Lane, they view the sign posted about the range. As a result, more and more interest is developed by prospective customers. The property is more costly than in an isolated location in the county but, the membership for this location will probably generate higher revenues. Comfort is a key element because people are protected from the elements. When it is raining they have cover. During hot or cold weather, they have a better climate. This is important when you want to practice and can plan your sessions without having to worry about the weather. Most of the new ranges will be having action shoots like I.D.P.A. [International Defensive Pistol Association]. These weekly or monthly shoots allow participants to add to their practice routines with more flavor using their carry gun. Additional regions that new indoor gun ranges are being planned are: Hamilton County and Williamson County. In Hamilton County Carter's Shooting Supplies is 90% finished with their indoor gun range. Already the firearm and accessories departments are open. Carter's Shooting Supplies has filed their application with the Tennessee Department of Safety for a "certified" handgun permit school. In Williamson County, Rick Uselton is planning a second indoor gun range [he owns one in the Rivergate S/C Area] in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. END |
