Training Increasing For Legally Armed Citizens
Firearm instructors are training more
individuals who want to be legal to carry guns. When licensed, the citizens are
practicing more at gun clubs or commercial shooting ranges, and taking classes on advanced
defensive tactics. All of these people realize that no gun will stop a
chemical or biological attack, and the possibility of facing an armed terrorist may never
happen. Even so, American shooters are working to increase their shooting ability
and defensive tactics. They are also in gun stores and at gun shows increasing the
number of guns they possess. Is this a direct influence caused by the attacks of
September 1, 2001?
A New Era With Terrorists & More Violent
Criminals

route usually goes between Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana. "I have been
carrying a gun most of my adult life. Now it seems there is more of a reason to
carry a gun. America has never been hurt like those little creeps hurt us on
September 11th. Killing all those people including women and children, was something
that shocked every American Citizen. Americans are a sturdy bunch, but when our
government tells us to be vigilant, without letting us know what to look for, it bothers
me. The only thing I can do is carry my gun, and keep a watch out for something
strange."
"Because I drive a truck, I have been told
that the rig could be used as a weapon for some terrorist. Well, I don't think it
could happen but, I am ready for any little sick fool who might try and do it. I
can't see much of a difference between someone trying to kill me for the few cents I might
have in my pocket, or someone trying to kill me just because they hate Americans. I
know one thing, that if someone tries to hurt me or someone else around me just because we
are Americans, I might be the last American the little fool gets to see before they meet
Allah."
More Violent Crimes
& The Thought Of Terrorists Sparks Increase In Citizens Being Legally Armed
It takes about six weeks in Louisiana to get a
handgun permit. Since three women have been murdered by a "serial" killer,
guns sales are up and so are requests for a concealed weapon permit. The Governor of
Louisiana has issued a statement that a concealed weapon permit might be something a woman
might consider.

regarding these murders. As with most serial killers, the acts of this killer have
increased in brutality, and have become more brazen. The murders in Louisiana have
sparked more concealed weapon permits for women in Louisiana. The murders in
Louisiana may have also contributed to more women getting handgun permits in Alabama and
Tennessee.
Special Class Held In Tennessee For Legally
Armed Citizens
In Tennessee, special classes
are being held for individuals who are authorized to carry weapons. These classes
are helping legally armed citizens increase their shooting abilities, and how to handle
defensive incidents.
James Morris is a firearms
instructor in Jackson, Tennessee. He said, "Some of the permit holders in
Tennessee have not been to the gun range since their original gun qualification.
This may have been over four years since they last shot their gun. Until now, all
they could do if they wanted to keep up their marksmanship was to find someplace to
shoot. This gets harder and harder to do because of city and county
regulations. Years ago you could go into your back yard and shoot off a few
rounds. Now, a person has to find a club or gun range to go shoot. There are
not that many clubs or ranges around. In larger cities you might find some, but not
in the smaller communities. Even law enforcement is finding difficulties locating
areas that they can practice and train."
These comments are true in Tennessee. In
Bradley County, the Bradley County Sheriff's Department is looking for property or a
location where they can shoot since their range was closed down. In Cookeville,
Tennessee, the police range was shut down when a neighbor complained that the range was
too close to his home. Thousands of dollars were spent on this location where there
was a building that contained a classroom, and re-loading equipment that helped the city
reduce cost for ammunition. The Putnam County Sheriff's Department now use a local
gun club, Bend Of The River Club, for their firearm training and qualification.
Because of the attacks of 9-11 and more violent
criminal incidents, some legally armed citizens are seeking out additional training to
help them react better in a dangerous incident where a firearm might be used.
In Tennessee, special classes have been scheduled throughout the state for October
2002. These classes will be held for permit holders from any state. In
addition to firearm training, anyone from Tennessee who desires to be certified to carry a
impact weapon may do so at these training classes. Kentucky CCDW permit holders are
already authorized to carry impact weapons under their state license, but other states do
not allow legally armed citizens to carry any weapon other than a handgun. Most
people believe that if a person is legal to carry a handgun, they should be allowed to
carry other weapons especially those that might be less lethal than a handgun. If a
law enforcement officer is allowed to carry a handgun and also a baton, why shouldn't a
law abiding citizen be allowed the same choice? This is one reason why these classes
are gaining in popularity with legally armed citizens.
Instructors Specially Chosen For The Training
Instructors for these classes have been selected based
on their training credentials. "We want everyone who attends these training
classes to increase their defensive skills and posses more knowledge about survival",
said one of the instructors who did not want to be identified because of his primary
occupation. The instructors for these classes are highly trained professionals who
believe that Homeland Security can be partly achieved when eligible American citizens are
armed all the time. They are not keen on being identified because of potential
conflicts with their primary occupations that could include law enforcement, military, or

An example was given about a recent attack at a
grocery store in Israel where an armed female eliminated a suicide bomber with a head
shot. She had been trained not to shoot any suicide bomber in center mass.
"Only use head shots" were his words. Could this happen in America...who
knows? What is known is that these instructors want to make sure that if it does
occur here, there just might be some trained armed citizens to effect a similar result as
in the Israeli incident.

type of government sting operation to catch law abiding citizens do something that should
not be doing, we have taken one of the training classes plus, we have looked into the
backgrounds of the instructors. Feel safe, these are honest Americans who want
America to be stronger on the home front. They don't care what color your skin is,
what religion you practice, or if you are a male or female. If you are authorized to
carry weapons, they want you to know how to use them safely, and effectively.
These training classes and the people who attend
them, may help reduce violent crime, increase the odds of survival of victims, and make
America stronger regarding domestic attacks.
